The Sweet Side of the River Bank Run

This year's big race is history. Here are the results, but there's more to the story.

Grand Rapids Press sports reporter Steve Ungrey (Remember me Steve?...He won't remember me, it's been years.) put together a piece about some of the human interest aspects of the event.

The Fifth Third River Bank Run, like any athletic event, can provoke emotional responses from those who participate in it, as well as their friends, relatives, and colleagues. Steve has highlighted a few of these stories that you might have otherwise missed.

These are stories are of love, commitment, hope and recovery, with some sports comradery mixed in. There's even a bewildering moment for some four-legged runners.
