It's been a tough summer for the Detroit Red Wings. Steve Yzerman is no longer General Manager, but no replacement has been named yet, and superstar Dylan Larkin asked for a trade. Geeze, what is going on?

Wings forward Dylan Larkin has been silent for a long time but has issued his first public statement, more than three months after he reportedly asked for that trade from the team according to Fox17.

Larkin said:

"Over the past couple of weeks, Red Wings leadership and I have had several in-depth discussions. I've appreciated those candid conversations, and I will be at training camp with my teammates. When new leadership is in place, we'll talk further about the direction of the team. We will keep those conversations private, and I will keep my focus on the season ahead and on the guys in that room."

That is certainly a relief for not only the Wings but fans, too. The turmoil with the Red Wings and their lack of positive production for the last few seasons has put things on a roller coaster of emotions and it has been difficult to track what is fact or rumor and speculation.

The team management echoed what Larkin said that any further conversations about his future with the club will take place privately when a new hockey operations leader is in place.

Fox17 reported the team went on to say:

"The Red Wings will begin the 2026-27 season without a captain being named. Any further discussions or decisions regarding this topic will be made once new hockey operations leadership is in place."

Pucks are flying so stay tuned!

Every Sweater Number in Detroit Red Wings History Worn Just Once (Or Not At All)

For whatever reason, these numbers have either been worn just once or never at all in the nearly 100-year history of Detroit Red Wings hockey, according to Hockey Reference.

(Hockey Reference suggests that No. 6 was only worn by Cummy Burton, which is incorrect as Larry Aurie wore the number first and the number is pseudo-retired. Such inaccuracies are difficult to narrow down, so where they can be corrected they will be.)
