$200 Million to Play Basketball? Yes! Show Me The Money!
Pro sports is a high flying, high salary kind of game, football, hockey, soccer, and basketball. And an eye-popping contract was just announced by the Detroit Pistons.
Fox17 reported on a story from ESPN, The Athletic and The Detroit News, that Jalen Duren has decided to accept a five-year, $200 million contract offer with the Detroit Pistons.

WOWEE!
The report said Duren accepted the deal shortly before a midnight deadline on a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Pistons had yet to announce the signing.

No one really knew what, if anything, was happening with Duren. He hadn't been on the Pistons training camp roster and the Pistons have been on the practice court since Tuesday, gearing up for the coming season.

Hearing the $200 million rumor, there was speculation that he might actually pass on that offer. You're shaking your head aren't you. Go figure.

Hey, I used to have a good jump shot and was good on defense back in my day. Okay, that may have been 3-on-3 basketball, but come on, I could hold my own. I might be able to get back into shape. HA! In my dreams. Well no one ever offered me money to play, go figure. So, I decided to talk for a living.

Fox17 said Duren averaged a career-high 19.5 points last season, 13.5 points in his first four NBA seasons, all with Detroit, along with 10.5 rebounds per game on 65% shooting. He made the All-NBA third team but struggled in the playoffs, averaging 10.2 points as the top-seeded Pistons failed to get out of the second round.
Bring on the playoffs. Oh, wait! Let's wait to see how the season goes.
