WZZM-13: Former Catholic Central Tutor Found Guilty on Four of Five Sex Charges
On Wednesday, a Kent County Circuit Court jury found a former Catholic Central High School tutor guilty of four of the five felony charges she faced for having sex with a 15-year-old student, our news-gathering partner WZZM-13 reported.
Abigail Simon was found guilty on three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and a count of accosting a minor by the 11-woman, one-man jury, which pondered her fate after an 11-day trial. She was found not guilty on a count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The charges stemmed from the 35-year-old former tutor's relationship with a 15-year-old student at the Grand Rapids high school over a three-month period in winter 2013, WZZM-13 reported.
Simon faces up to life in prison on the felony counts.
