What an honor it is for Michigan to make some top 25 lists in America and the world. Are we proud?

Not exactly!

Michigan cities made the Lawn Starter.com list of the dirtiest cities in the U.S. and the AQI list for most polluted cities. What an honor?

The "dirtiest city list" was based on a number of factors like air quality, water quality, roadway pollution, quantity of trash in landfills, and access to public restrooms, among other things. And while San Bernardino, and Los Angeles, California were number one and two on the list, Detroit was a sad number three as one of American's dirtiest cities.

Here in West Michigan, Grand Rapids ranked at 114 as one of the dirtiest cities. We have some work to do, too.

As for pollution, air quality, Michigan was hit hard. Let's face it, we are in the air belt for pollution coming across and down the Great Lakes from the west, and right now that certainly includes the smoke from Canadian wild fires.

We're not totally in the clear as to producing air pollution, but we are, for sure, getting blasted from the north and west.

Marquette and Ste. Sault Maire, in the U.P., came in number one and number two as most polluted, with Traverse City at number four. Yikes!

By the way, in checking into the AQI listing further, Grand Rapids came in at number 10. Cough, cough!
