UICA Planning More Murals in Grand Rapids
The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts is planning to bring three mural projects to three different neighborhoods in Grand Rapids this year.
UICA is asking for help to fund the murals which are planned to be completed by the start of ArtPrize 10 on Sept. 19, 2018.
UICA hopes to raise a total of $5,000. The money will be used for artist stipends, travel, lodging, materials and supplies. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation will add an additional $5,000 if the goal is met.
The murals are planned for three areas:
- The tunnel and retaining walls along the Grand River on the west side of Pearl Street Bridge.
- Baxter neighborhood: one large-scale mural.
- Creston neighborhood: four murals by different artists.
