The 6 Worst Coffee Brands to Avoid Buying in Michigan!
24/7 Wall Street is at it again as they discuss coffee!
Coffee, our beloved drink that millions of Americans, I'm included, love and need to start our mornings.
But, not all coffee is created equal and it's important to know there are some brands you may want to avoid.
24/7Wall Street took a selection of coffee brands that, due to various reasons ranging from quality concerns to ethical issues, might be best left on the store shelves in 2024.
#6. KIRKLAND SIGNATURE
This is the house brand of COSTCO, and they sell a lot of it. However, the brand seldom discloses specific information about where its coffee beans are sourced from, leaving consumers guessing about the origins, quality, and ethical standards of the beans used in their blends. This makes a big difference to many.
#5. NESCAFE
Nescafe doesn't offer organic certified coffees, and coupled with the potential for chemicals and mold in their products has a lot of folks are concerned.
#4. YUBAN
Yuban’s downfall is attributed to its recipe change. Previously known for using 100% Colombian beans, the brand shifted to a blend of Robusta and Arabica beans from unspecified Latin American regions. This seems to be a move towards cheaper, lower-quality beans, resulted in a noticeable decline in taste and overall coffee quality.
#3. GREEN MOUNTAIN COFFEE
Green Mountain Coffee’s decline in quality can be traced back to its acquisition and subsequent corporate direction shift. Originally celebrated for its independent, high-quality coffee, the company’s focus shifted towards cost-cutting and mass production following its takeover by JAB Holding. The shift from a quality-driven independent brand to a corporate, mass-produced coffee is disappointing.
#2. DEATH WISH COFFEE
Watch out here because Death Wish Coffee has extremely high caffeine content. They say they use fair trade USDA organic beans, but no one knows where they come from. Also, the oiliness of Death Wish’s whole-bean coffee is a big problem for standard home grinders. With a one-pound bag costing around $20, it doesn't seem a very good value for your money.
#!. FOLGERS
Folgers is known for its pre-ground coffee, but doesn't offer organic options. It's too bad as Folgers has been a beloved household name for decades, but is now marked by shortcuts in quality and ethics. If you are seeking quality in your coffee cup, best to leave it on the shelf.
