This would be any homeowner's dream, a self cleaning toilet or bathroom. So sweet!

Well, they are coming to downtown Grand Rapids! Okay, not for a home but they will be Self Cleaning Public Restrooms!

There has always been an issue in cities when you have to go. Where do you go? You can't just walk into a store and plead with them to let you use their restroom because they're most probably not going to let that happen. And, if you do find a public restroom, stinky...phew...icky...enough said.

Good news bladder holders. There will soon be more options for catching a quick bathroom break while wandering around downtown and much, much cleaner.

Fox17 reports the Grand Rapids Department of Parks and Recreation is in the final stages of installing the first of new public bathrooms at Heartside Park off Ionia Avenue and features self-cleaning technology. And, they will be free!

The restrooms will be open year-round, rain, shine, snow or sleet.

There will be three stalls available for people to use, including a wheelchair-accessible one. Users will have about 10 to 15 minutes to do their thing before a timer goes off, and when that happens the doors open and you'd better be finished!

Safe and clean public restrooms are an essential part of a downtown experience, resident or visitor, something that everyone should have access to and this is just the beginning. More public restrooms are planned downtown soon.

The rehab plan for the historic head house at Veterans Memorial Park includes some public restrooms, which are set to open later this year.

Way to go GR.
