First off, all I can think is the way Ted Mosby on “How I Met Your Mother” used to always say it…  re-NAY-ssance fair, BUT if you went over to or worked the  Renaissance Fair over Labor Day weekend in Holly, you need to be vaccinated for Hepatitis A.

MLive reports that Oakland County Health officials found out on Thursday (Sept. 13th) that one of the attendees of the Labor Day festival was sick with Hepatitis A while they were munching on a giant turkey leg.   According to MLive, they are recommending all workers get vaccinated by today, which remember they just found out on Thursday night.

Health officials told MLive that a vaccine within 14 days can prevent the disease that can affect the liver.  After 14 days which is any time after Saturday, September 15, they suggest you be aware of the symptoms and go to the doctor if you start to feel any of the following:

“such as sudden abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, headache, dark urine and/or vomiting often followed by yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)”

Hepatitis A is very contagious and affects the liver, so if you think you’ve got something going on, definitely get to a doctor. It doesn’t usually kill, but can make you sick for any time between a few weeks to a few months, reports MLive.
