We all love fall with the crisp temperatures and beautiful colors of the trees. Hayrides, bonfires, smores, a corn maze, and of course lots of football.

But, winter isn't that far behind with the first official day December 21. There is snow to contend with, and your love or hate relationship with the fluffy white stuff.

WHAT ARE EXPERTS SAYING ABOUT A MICHIGAN WINTER THIS YEAR?

Forecasting for Michigan is such a crap shoot. With Lake Michigan, possible El Nino, and other factors it is a crazy job to have right now. Right now the best guess for the possible first snow fall is November 28 according to My Wild Winter.

The website is also forecasting a milder and dryer winter with a strong El Nino. My Wild Winter says that here in the Midwest:

"Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, the Dakotas. Precipitation is mostly equal chances: only Michigan carries a below-normal tilt, and only Kansas and Nebraska sit in the wet central-Plains extension. Lake-effect belts still get their snow when the lakes are open and the air is cold enough, but seasonal totals in strong El Niño years have historically run below average here."

WHAT ABOUT THE GOOD OLD FARMERS ALMANAC?

They are pretty general in their winter forecasting for the Great Lakes and Michigan. The Almanac says:

"Fast-moving clippers, sudden cold snaps, and brief snowy periods are likely, although milder breaks may frequently interrupt the wintry weather. Farther north, the Plains, Midwest, and Great Lakes could experience sudden snow squalls, blustery winds, and bursts of bitter cold."

Okay, uh, hmm, that's helpful?

Anyone have a pair of dice?
