Urgent! Popular Ice Cream is Being Recalled in Michigan!

Ice Cream is one of life's little pleasures. We all have our favorite, or favorites, in my case. In the summer months there is nothing better that a great, refreshing, ice cream cone.

But now, we have to be careful because there is a big nationwide and Michigan recall of a popular brand because the ice cream recalled may contain plastic.

MSN.com reports that "Wells Enterprises, the company that owns Blue Bunny Ice Cream, has issued a recall on more than 17,000 tubs of ice cream products."

Ingesting micro plastics is never a good thing, although, quite honestly, we're probably doing it all the time, way more than we should be in other food products.

But what happens if you do?

The United Nations Development Programme says "you could develop serious health issues, such as endocrine disruption, weight gain, insulin resistance, decreased reproductive health and cancer."

Now that is a little scary!

Some people, however, do say that the evidence is very small that these things could happen and more research needs to be done to see if, in fact, damage is being done.

It has been labeled a class II recall according to sister station i95 Rock. The FDA describes a Class II recall as:

"A situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

Walmart and Target stores throughout Michigan and Grand Rapids, carry Blue Bunny Ice Cream, but you may find it at other supermarkets and convenience stores as well.
