The Most Popular Christmas Trees in Michigan? Where Are They?
Did you know that Michigan ranks as the third leading producer of Christmas trees in the nation? We have the perfect climate and soils that allow our Christmas tree growers to produce a wider variety of trees than any other state. The Michigan State Extention say that we are able to offer a variety of shapes, colors and even scents to choose from.
So what are the most popular trees? The most common Christmas trees here in Michigan are Fraser fir, Scotch pine, Colorado blue spruce, Douglas-fir, Concolor fir and Canaan fir, and there's one to fit every taste.
Do you have a favorite? I do. It's the Fraser fir for it's soft needles and usually great shape and it smells so good, too.
Where would you go to find your favorite? There are many tree lots that pop up in December that you could go to, but we a blessed with many tree farms close by to buy direct. And don't forget the Farmers Market on Fulton. Local tree growers also cut fresh and bring them to the market each weekend in December.
One of the Christmas traditions for families is to cut their own tree down and you have several places to chose from.
