This time of year everyone is busy, but it's important to remember that giving is more important than receiving.

Okemo from Crash's Landing needs someone to give him time, care and a new home.

Crash's Landing is a non-profit, no-kill cat rescue center.  Since opening in Grand Rapids in 2002, Crash's Landing has helped more than 2,500 cats. But there is still work to be done.

Every Friday on 100.5 The River is "Purrrfect Friday," where we feature a cat from Crash's Landing that needs a home. This week, we're spotlighting Okemo.

Crash's Landing first heard about Okemo on October 12, 2013, when they received an email from someone looking to find Okemo a home. Part of the email reads:

He is blind in his left eye and his right ear has been chewed but is totally healed. He belonged to a woman on our street who was 100 and is no longer living at her home. A relative of hers let the cat outside because of a flea problem in the house and never came back for him.

The concerned neighbor brought Okemo to a vet for testing. They found Okemo to be FIV positive. Big Sid's Sanctuary at Crash's Landing is one of the only options for FIV positive cats.

Crash's Landing was at capacity, but they were able to move him up the waiting list and Okemo joined them on October 21, 2013.

Okemo is a shy cat, but full of love. What he really needs is a new home and a loving family.

Can't adopt, but still want to help?
