Heather from the Humane Society of West Michigan wasn't able to come into the studio yesterday morning so we talked on the phone about Louise!

Sweet Louise has been at our shelter far too long. She's just 7 years young and made her way to West Michigan from Ohio where she had a rough start to life. Louise is a truly amazing dog who loves people and her toys! She would like to be your only baby, furry or otherwise, but she is such a loving lady. She will happily lay outside in the sun, supervising you and keeping you company as you work in the yard (or in our case, take out the trash and scoop poop). You’ll often find her hanging out on the top of the dog house outside, in her little green coat, as content as could be. She has a leg deformity that gives her a bit of a wobbly gait, but that doesn’t slow her down at all!

Empty The Shelters is back again next week, to help find loving homes for as many pets as possible, and provide overcrowding relief to shelters across the country!

From Tuesday, May 3rd to Saturday, May 7th, BISSELL Pet Foundation, and Cathy Bissell will sponsor adoption costs so that all of the cats and dogs in our care will be just be $25 to adopt, small animals will only be $5 to adopt, and as always, senior pets are fee-waived!

Mark your calendars for this amazing opportunity, and get ready to stop by and meet your new best fur-iend!

Thank you to our Generous Community!

WOW. We asked for help replenishing our enrichment items last week and you DELIVERED (literally)!

On Tuesday morning we only had one half-empty jar of peanut butter and a single sad can of spray cheese to our name--and by the end of the day--we had bags and bags of whipped cream, tubs and boxes of cream cheese and yogurt, enormous cases of peanut butter, and more!! We put them to good use right away whipping up enrichment items and giving our pups some extra special treats, just to celebrate!

We are truly SO grateful to everyone who came out to answer our call for help and bring us these much-needed supplies. We are so lucky to be a part of a community that cares so deeply about each and every animal in our care. THANK YOU!!

Volunteer Appreciation

Speaking of things we’re grateful for, last week was Volunteer Appreciation week, and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank our hardworking volunteers for everything that they do for us!

While our shelter does employ staff members, there's no WAY we could do all of the good work we do without our amazing volunteers. These selfless souls open their homes to fosters, come in to spoil our pets, help us keep up with our neverending laundry, match adopters with the perfect furever friends, and generally keep this place running smoothly!

If you know someone who volunteers please give them some love, or better yet, do something nice for THEM--they've earned all the good karma!
