We're kind of sure he's joking, but the intense new Lions coach says a Lion roaming the sidelines with him would help him "inspire" his players.

Appearing on Bar Stool Sports "Pardon My Take" podcast, hosted by guys known as "Big Take" and "PFT Commenter" (hey, my name is Jojo, so far be it from me to pick on those names), Campbell told the hosts that having an actual Lion with him at all times would help with enforcing discipline.

"I don’t think we’re going to be able to do it, but I would love to literally just have a pet lion," Campbell said on the show, which is posted below. "Just a legit pet lion on a chain, a big ass chain, and he really is my pet. We just walk around the building, we go out to practice, we’re at seven-on-seven, we’re behind the kicker when he’s kicking."

Sometimes we're not sure whether Campbell, who promises to be the most entertaining Lions coach in a while, is joking or not, but we're pretty sure he's joking. Right?

Campbell added, "on command, you could train him like if one of your groups isn’t doing well you could just take him over to their section and just have it take a dump right there in the middle of where their section is at and then bring him on back. I mean, think about it. It’d be outstanding."

Campbell went on to say he would give up his arm to win a Super Bowl. Campbell loves talking about eliminating body parts, in his first press conference as coach he promised his team would "bite the knee caps" off of opponents.

One guy believed it was real...and loves the new coaches attitude...

And ESPN's "Around The Horn" took on the topic as well...

The People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) had some fun with the quote, since Campbell admitted, even if he liked the idea, PETA would shut it down. PETA responded by sending Campbell a stuffed Lion named "Detroit Dan", and a vegan goody basket.

Although I'm pretty sure Campbell eats nothing but raw meat. And he kind of already LOOKS like a Lion, so there's that.
