Is Skinny Dipping at Michigan Campgrounds Legal or Illegal?
Ah, the good old days of swimming at the cottage on your lake or in the river out in the woods somewhere. You probably have wonderful memories as a kid, footloose and fancy free, playing and swimming all summer long.
Did you ever go skinny dipping? Sans clothes, diving into the water, splashing around without a care in the world. Even if other kids or people were around, it was so freeing.

Just letting your troubles float away!
But today, times have probably changed a lot. If you are camping for the week or weekend and you are at a Michigan campground, you thought it would be cool to go late night skinning dipping. Daring, yes, but why not, right?

Oops! No way, NO! You cannot legally skinny dip at a Michigan campground.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says public nudity is a big NO-NO anywhere in public parks and state managed campgrounds.

As a matter of fact, if you do skinny dip and you get caught, it will seriously not end well for you. It could get a misdemeanor charge with fines of up to $1,000 dollars and even some jail time up to one year if the charges are bad enough. Yikes!

I’m sure some people attempt it every year, but Rangers are patrolling at all hours, so, think about this for a minute. Would it really worth it? Uh, probably not. Michigan says skinny dipping remains unlawful on public land and is a not an approved activity.
In other words…..BAD IDEA!
