Lake, from the Humane Society of West Michigan, came to visit.

Andy Rent talked about Lake with Emily from the Humane Society of West Michigan on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Lake is a 7-Year-Old cattle dog mix. She is an easy going girl, who loves attention, and she is very affectionate.  She has been known to get along with other dogs in the past - however, her previous owner stated that she really would like to be the only pet. Lake would also like to go to a home with older/respectful children. Because of Lake's age, she is a part of our Silver Paws program and her adoption fee is waived.

Emily also talked about their continuing adoption special. She said they are currently having the special (Jason's Jewels) for all long-term dogs. This special has been ongoing since July 27th and it goes until August 31st. Jason is an employee who works closely with these particular dogs and has a dream to see them all find their forever homes. Currently, they have adopted out 3 dogs from this event. The have 11 more dogs to go, 2 of them being the animals that have been here the longest (June Bug, & Aurora).

Emily also mentioned that today, August 22nd, is National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day. This day was introduced because some cat owners only bring their cat to the vet when they hit with a sickness. People may think if they are indoors they will not pick up illnesses as easily. However, it is important to remember just like other pets, and humans cats should have regular check-ups. This can prevent future illnesses.

You can get all the information on the Humane Society website or call (616) 453-8900.
