Lady the dog is our special pet of the week.

Andy Rent talked about him on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Brittany, from the Humane Society, brought Lady into the studios. Lady 4 year old yellow Lab. She's very sweet, mellow, and loves toys.

According to the American Kennel Club, the gentle, intelligent and family-friendly Labrador Retriever from Canada continues to be the most popular breed in the United States, according to AKC registration statistics. This versatile hunting breed comes in three colors - yellow, black and chocolate - and because of their desire to please their master they excel as guide dogs for the blind, as part of search-and-rescue teams or in narcotics detection with law enforcement.

Here's some special for all pet lovers. The Humane Society is having a special on guinea pigs through the end of the month. Guinea pigs are name-your-own adoption fee.

Brittany also talked about keep your pet safe. Some of the best ways to prevent losing a pet is to spay and neuter as it reduces their desire to roam, making sure that they are secure when on leash and/or in a yard, and keeping an updated tag and microchip in case they are lost.You can get all the information on the Humane Society website or call (616) 453-8900.
