It's an odd thought to ponder, but there is this weird fact that the last time the Lions won an NFL championship, in the 1950s, a new Queen of England was crowned. Hmmm.....

Did A Coronation Happen the Last Time The Detroit Lions Won a National Championship?

In that decade, 70-plus years ago, Elizabeth II became Queen of the United Kingdom, and her coronation took place on June 2, 1953.

Guess what? In that same year, the Detroit Lions won the NFL Championship behind the infamous Bobby Lane. Hmmm.....

The Detroit Free Press pointed this fact out back in May on X (formerly Twitter.)

When Was King Charles Crowned as King of England?

Flash forward to 2023, and on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey, after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles was crowned King of the United Kingdom. Hmmm.....

Do you see what I'm getting at?

Detroit Lions' championships corollate with coronations! Coronations of British monarchs, at least. What do you think? Is there a strange force in the works out there?

King Charles' coronation happened eight months ago in 2023, and the current NFL season began in 2023. There could be a force here. Hmmm.....

The Lions are for real, a very good football team and can hold their own against anyone. So unlike the past teams, with some breaks here and there, there is a real possibility they could pull it off.

1991, 33 years ago, was the last time the Lions won a playoff game behind Barry Sanders.

Heck, the last time they won two playoff games was 1957. They actually made it to the NFC championship game in '91, but lost to the Washington Redskins.

When Do the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers Play?

So, this weekend they get to play for the NFC championship and a spot in the Super Bowl. This time, they'll face the San Francisco 49ers, the number one seed in the conference, and it's this Sunday, 6:30 p.m. on FOX.

Hey, Maybe King Charles will give the Lions a shout-out. Maybe he'll even come to the game.

Okay, probably not, but it's worth a try.
