Gift Cards for Christmas? Here Are The Best to Buy!
As my wife Susie and I finish up our Christmas shopping, it's always fun to buy toys and things for our younger grandchildren just as we did when our kids were little. Since we have already bought gifts for our "big kids" who are now the moms and dads, it's difficult to buy for our older grandchildren who are now teenagers. I don't think they're looking for a Barbie or some Play-doh.
Asking their parents isn't much help. They're not sure what they want either. So it looks as if it's Gift Cards to the rescue.
Personally, I'm not a fan of giving gift cards because it seems so impersonal, but the grandchildren are thrilled because they can shop for what they really want. So, we put the gift card in a Christmas card with a loving message. (It may or not get read, but it's the thought, right?)

Sometimes we have gone for a restaurant card that we know they like. But this year the requests seem pretty general, so it's going to be a card they can spend on what they like. But, where would that be, and what is the best value?
MSN.com says that WalletHub has put out their list of best and not so best cards to buy.
They say the, "Visa gift card has been the most popular, but be careful because there is a hefty fee of $6.90 on each card."
WalletHub's top five cards, in addition to the Visa card, according to MSN.com are:
- Sephora
- Target
- Starbucks
- Disney
- Chipotle
There are so many more and WalletHub breaks all of their top rated gift cards down for us. The also offer some really good tips regarding discounts, and safety factors when buying a card to make sure it hasn't been tampered with, to actual resale of the card if your recipient doesn't want it.
By the way, Susie and I are going with Amazon cards this year.
Hope this helps. Merry Christmas!
