History and current forecasts often have little in common. That is the case a bit this year as meteorologists are calling for warmer temperatures.

Our current long-range forecasts might hurt our chances of a white Christmas, but I seem to remember meteorologists being wrong once or twice.

Historically, most of West Michigan has a 61 - 75 percent chance of a white Christmas. Combine history with current forecasts and that number might be closer to a 50/50 shot in 2014.

A white Christmas is always nice, but after the cold and snow we saw last winter and last month, be careful what you wish for.
