Hector, from the Humane Society of West Michigan, came to visit.

Andy Rent talked about Hector with Brooke from the Humane Society of West Michigan on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Hector is a 1 year old male American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He's a sweet dog who gets along with both male and female dogs and is currently kenneled with a female dog. He can be cautious in new situations and would do well in a laid back home that would give him time to adjust to his new surrounding and would also give him the walks and playtime that he loves!

The Pit Bull Mix can sometimes get a bum rap from the miss-treated Pit Bulls that have cause harm.  Fear not, Pit Bulls rank among the most loyal, affectionate, human-oriented, intelligent, and well tempered dogs on the planet, according to Save A Bull. Pit Bulls, in a nutshell, are a breed that is overly friendly with people, never prone to human-aggression or guarding.

Brooke also talked about three special events coming up.

  • Adopt Your MVP special! They are running an adoption special from Sunday 1/28 until Sunday 2/4 for the super bowl. Adult cat adoption fees are waived and adult dog adoption fees are reduced by $52 (for Super Bowl 52.) Puppy and kitten adoption fees will not be reduced during this time.
  • PAWS - PAWS is HSWM's monthly donor program. Individuals can sign up to give a recurring donation to support animals in need each month with ACH transfer or recurring credit card donation of any amount they choose. $5/month provides 2 shelter animals with a microchip each month and $10/month provides 1 dog with a heartworm test, preventative medication, and vaccines. This is a great way to support homeless animals in our community by donating the cost of a latte or your Netflix subscription each month!
  • Reading Between Friends - Monday afternoons from 4-5PM (October-May) open to ages: 5-16 (adults may participate), youth 5-16 years old may read to cats, youth ages 12-16 years old may read to dogs. Cost is $7 per family each time and pre-registration required as spaces are limited. Students under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

You can get all the information on the Humane Society website or call (616) 453-8900.
