Trudy from the Humane Society of West Michigan stopped by for Wet Nose Wednesday, on December 20th, 2017. She brought “Champion” along with her.

“Champion” is a two year old shepherd mix who is looking for his forever home. He is a 3-legged wonder! He came from a shelter in Mississippi. Due to an injury, one of his back legs had to be amputated. You wouldn't know this pooch was missing a leg...he gets around just fine and even does steps according to Trudy.

“Champion” is looking for his forever home. If you are looking to add a furry family member to your home, give “Champ” some consideration.

Trudy also reminded everyone about pets as holiday gifts. There are some do's and don'ts for thoughtfully adding a furry family member for the holidays. Remember that a puppy grows up to be an adult dog, and it's probably a 10 to 15-year commitment. There's a lot of love there, but a lot of responsibility.

We also talked about Giving Love/Giving Local. Remember to make sure that your donations are going to the Humane Society of West Michigan so that those donations stay and support the local organization. Humane Society of West Michigan, a 501(c)3 non profit organization, assists over 8,000 animals annually. They are 100% donor-funded! They receive no funding from the government or national animal welfare organizations.

Also, don't forget that the Humane Society of West Michigan can use other donations -- other than just money. They have a Wish List for things like dog toys, canned dog and cat food, disinfecting wipes, Dawn dish soap and many other items.

All the information is on the Humane Society of West Michigan website, or call (616) 453-8900.
