Meet Patches, who's practically perfect in every way!

This pretty girl not only has a smile that goes on for miles, but she's also total sweetheart! Patches loves to get pets and will lean into you for scratchies and give you lots of love in return. She has a ton of happy puppy energy and would make the perfect hiking or running buddy to help keep you active! Patches likes making nests with her blankets, and always keeps her kennel neat and tidy. She would prefer to be your only furbaby while she decompresses from shelter life.

Patches has gone on lots of adventures through Dogs Day Out, but is ready to find a loving furever home of her own! Please give this precious lady a chance to win you over--we know it won't take long!

Animal Care Artists

Humane Society of West Michigan is known for many things, but art? Not usually...!

Starting today, with a minimum $10 donation to HSWM, you can get a custom drawing of your pet and support shelter animals in need! All artwork will be personally made by our dedicated staff and volunteers who are (mostly) a lot better at caring for animals than drawing. It may or may not be good, but it will definitely be one of a kind!

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the animals in our care. To participate, make a donation at https://app.giveffect.com/campaigns/24665-animal-care-artists and then post the photo you’d like us to take a crack at, email your pet’s photo to events@hswestmi.org.

Puppy Love Party

If your kid loves pets, then you've got to sign them up for our Kid's Night Out, Puppy Love Party on Friday, Feb 10th from 5:30 to 8:30pm!

Gift yourself a night out with someone special, and let your kids love on the animals in our care during this Valentine's Day themed party--complete with fun crafts, activities, animal time, a puppy kissing booth, and more!

Success Through H.E.L.P Program

To those who aren't aware of all of the services we provide, our HELP program is a new service we rolled out in 2022 and are so proud we have been able to help 28 families in need this past year!

To explain what our HELP program is, imagine your pet experiences a life threatening ailment, accident or condition and you are forced to take them to an emergency clinic. You find out quickly that the cost to just assess their condition, let alone the actual treatment, is clearly out of reach for you financially. You apply for CareCredit and are denied. You have to tell the staff that you don't have the money to help your animal through this crisis. Heartbreaking? FOR SURE! This is where the Humane Society of West Michigan comes in. The brain child of our very own vet, Dr. Thompson, when her schedule permits and it is within our ability, we can take a referral from an animal emergency hospital and see that animal at an extremely reduced cost to the owner.

We do want to make it clear, this is an emergency service, and we are only able to accept new HELP patients through select referral partner clinics, and are not able to offer vet care to the public. However, we are extremely proud to be an organization that can go above and beyond for those animals and their owners who are the most in need of help!
