You Missed the “Art” at Grand Rapids Festival? It’s Back and in Lowell!
Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts, known simply as Festival, is such a wonderful celebration in downtown Grand Rapid every summer at the start of June. Festival has been a fun celebration for 53-years, since 1970. Most of us know it as a celebration of performance, bands, singers, dancers and more. Along with all the music, we love the food you find there.
However, I think many forget there an Art portion of Festival where professional jurors designate more than 40 awards and cash prizes. This year's exhibition was at several premier galleries in and around Grand Rapids, so it was easy to miss for the average Festival goer. This year they handed out more than $12,000 to selected area artists for their work.
So, if you did miss it, now is your chance to catch the winners Fox17 says. The city of Lowell is bringing the award-winning pieces from Festival of the Arts Regional Arts Exhibition to downtown Lowell.
The exhibtion of winners will be on display at LowellArts Gallery beginning this Saturday, July 8 to August 12 featuring 72 of the over 400 pieces submitted to the exhibition, including winners of the youth art exhibition.
The LowellArts Gallery (223 W Main St, Lowell, MI 49331) is in downtown Lowell. The gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
