Christmas certainly is most everyone's favorite time of the year.  Family getting together, celebrating the birth of Christ, exchanging gifts.  There are the beautiful holiday colors, lights, even snow.  But, along with all the joy comes the stress of getting it all together.

Whoa there...slow down a bit, that is if you can...and enjoy the season.  Try spending part of your holiday in Rockford with their "old fashioned Christmas."  It's like taking a step back in time.

Last night they held their annual Tree Lighting ceremony, with choirs and a brass band.

Tonight and tomorrow night from 5 to 8pm all of the stores are holding a Holiday Open House with refreshments in many stores, special discounts, prizes to win and more.

Santa comes to town on Saturday, December 3 with the annual Santa Clause Parade beginning at 11am.

On select evenings in December there will be free carriage rides, one of Santa's reindeer will visit, Santa will greet kids of all ages, carolers will be singing, all while shoppers stroll the beautiful, lighted streets of Squire's Street Square and shop for the holidays.

Feels pretty good, doesn't it.  Slow down and enjoy an "old fashioned Christmas" in Rockford.
