If you are a reader as I am, (I'm finally getting to Pat Conroy's Beach Music,) then this is a special week for you with many things happening.

Grand Rapids LitFest began Monday and runs through this coming Monday, June 29.

LitFest is a week long festival celebrated in the heart of Grand Rapids with the aim to unite writers, readers, local booksellers, and businesses over the love of literature.

Not only is this a week-long celebration of books, but it has an aim to encourage young and old alike to pick up a book, immerse yourself in a fun read, and enjoy.

There are many fun things planned along the way. For instance, this Saturday is the K thru 12 Book Fair. It should be super fun for kids.

The GR LitFest said on their Facebook page that, "It is in partnership with Has Heart Café,  22 Sheldon Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. The historic building is located on the grounds of Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Grand Rapids, across from the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum and the Apartment Lounge. It will be on the patio to browse a wonderful collection of books perfect for summer reads.

There will also be a very special guest for the kids. "Wimee the Robot is coming to the book fair! Wimee the Robot can be seen on PBS stations across the country, inspiring millions of kids to think creatively, express themselves, and explore the world through words, art, and technology."
