Costco has been a lot of folks "go-to" store for many years. With a membership, there are over 40 million, you get to shop and save on food, clothing, books, TVs, phones, I could go on. And, of course, you can't forget the food samples throughout the store and food court!

They close seven times a year simply to honor several holidays and to give employees some needed time off to be with family. According to The Street website, the other holidays Costco closes are:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Costco goes out of their way to keep customers happy. Return policies are the best, guarantees on products are always honored, and they try to keep their employees happy, too. With higher than average wages and outstanding benefits, they do keep their employees happy. That is good business sense. Happy employees mean happy customers. Duh!

But those extra holidays off for employees means a lot, and really is not a big inconvenience for customers. You just have to plan ahead.
