Its one thing to build your own gun, its another to know how to use it correctly and a woman in Pierson Township, Michigan, learns the hard way.

According to FOX 17, Michigan State Police say a woman had to be rushed to the hospital after accidentally shooting herself with a homemade gun.

Michigan State Police troopers from the Lakeview Post announced the incident took place in Montcalm County early Sunday morning near Stanton Road and Jones Road.

The 33-year-old victim was apparently trying to fire the gun when for some reason it discharged and the shot when into her shoulder.

The woman suffered severe injuries while paramedics rushed her to Butterworth Hospital located in Grand Rapids.

The woman's name is still being withheld while the case is under investigation.

A host of emergency crews were sent to the scene that included the Montcalm County Sheriff's Office, EMS and County Central Dispatch also assisted Michigan State Police at the location of the shooting.
