There is always a big conversation about tips. The question in everyone's mind is do I tip or not? What should I tip for, and should I not need to tip for?

Many businesses will have a tip jar out to collect some extra money for the servers, kitchen help, etc., who only make minimum wages. But every once in awhile some low-life, dirt bag who feels entitled to that money will grab it.

Such was the case in Sturgis. Mancino's Pizza & Grinders posted on their Facebook page that is exactly what happened to them.

The owners posted:

"We're reviewing cameras still, but I'm confident we'll figure out who did it. I was spitting nails earlier, but I've calmed down a bit and I just feel pity for anyone who thinks this is how to make choices in life. Do better.
Come on now... We are here to serve, and someone just walked in here and did something pretty awful. We DO have cameras and I want to give this person the chance to do the right thing.
Someone just walked off with my crew's tip jar. The freaking tip jar."

That money was for the kids and crew who work there, not the owners. Maybe this is their first job, a job after school, whatever, but that little bit of extra money means a lot as they navigate life, and something this thoughtless is totally un-understandable.

There is some good news that has come out of this, however. The community has stepped up. Sturgis folks have been walking into Mancino's, and without ordering anything, plunking money down on the counter to help the kids. Sturgis has a heart!

The owner said to the tip jar taker, "If you need money, if you need food, tell me. I'll help you, but don't steal from my kids."

By-the-way, that tip jar was a classic, vintage Vlasic jar that had been there for decades. There was a sign on it that read, "Thanks for the tips! We knead the dough!"
