Big Changes Coming To Allegiant Flights Out Of Grand Rapids
All airlines cut flights occasionally and adjust their schedules. But Allegiant Air says they are cutting 61 flights nationally, and some of those are here in Grand Rapids at Ford International Airport. Ouch!
And, the answer to the question you are thinking is YES, it is the cost of fuel that is "fueling" their cuts.

The flight cuts will begin this July 2026, and include several flights into or from other Michigan airports, along with the Ford, according to Simple Flying, an aviation news outlet.
WHAT FLIGHTS ARE WE AND MICHIGAN LOSING?
Michigan will lose these flight routes, according to MSN.com:
- EWR-FNT, flights between Newark Liberty International Airport and Flint Bishop International Airport
- FNT-VPS, flights between Flint Bishop International Airport and Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport
- FLL-TVC, flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Traverse City Cherry Capital Airport
- GRR-LAX, flights between Grand Rapids Gerald R. Ford International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport
I hate to see this, but we are losing our Allegiant flight to Los Angeles because Allegiant is pulling out of LAX altogether. However, Allegiant will continue to fly from Burbank or Orange County, at least for now.

Allegiant is also pulling out of several other airports, according to Rolling Out.com. "Columbia in South Carolina, Grand Forks, Los Angeles International, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Oakland, Norfolk, and San Diego International Airport."

We are blessed to have a top small to medium-sized airport, Ford International, with American, Delta, Allegiant, United, Southwest, and Frontier airlines, along with connecting airlines serving air passengers. There are 35 plus non-stop flights as well, and with over four million passengers passing through our Gerald R. Ford airport, flying to and from GRR is altogether pretty easy.
