Watch Out! There is A Grand Rapids Winter Storm Warning With Lots of Snow
It was such a nice Fall, and wasn't it 70 degrees last week? Not anymore! Lots of snow is coming and we have a Winter Storm Warning beginning at 7 am Thursday morning through 7 am Saturday. Welcome to an early Winter!
So, our friendly Fox17 Meteorologists are saying that bitterly cold air is moving in, and that will fire up the lake effect "snow machine" and generate a bunch of snow over pretty much all of West Michigan. Temperatures will only be in the 20s by Thursday night and stay there through the weekend, including Sunday.
And, that doesn't take the winds into effect. With those winds coming off the lake, it could dump six inches to a foot of snow before it's through. Now, that is a four-day total because the snow is likely to continue to fall into Sunday. That's about three inches per day. Holy snowman!
The Warning includes Kent, Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren, Ionia, Barry, Eaton, Kalamazoo, and Calhoun counties.
KENT COUNTY ROAD COMMISSION PLOWS ROADS
Then, for counties north, there is a Winter Weather Advisory through 7 a.m. Saturday that includes Mason, Oceana, and Muskegon counties, where total snow accumulations between that time period will be between 5" to 8". Good grief!
All-in-all, don't forget to be prepared and keep your winter gear handy, especially in your car. Hats and gloves, maybe a little shovel, water, snacks, and things like that.
