You can ride The Rapid for free Monday, August 30 and Tuesday, August 31.

In addition, Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29 are Clean Air Action Days, so no fare is required.

The changes being implemented Monday are the result of the "Mobility For All" project, which has examined the entire Rapid fixed-route system with public input, technical analysis, and stakeholder outreach.

The Rapid says the new service plan is designed to make your commute more accessible, efficient, and reliable by providing:

    • Buses coming more often on our busiest routes
    • Buses arriving on time more often
    • Easier transfers between routes
    • A new type of service for parts of Kentwood and Walker called Mobility-On-Demand Zones (planned for January of 2022

Changes include certain high-demand routes getting 15-minute all-day service on weekdays, new names for some routes, and realignments for some routes.

The Rapid says,

Our team at The Rapid understands that these changes will cause disruptions for some riders, and we are committed to providing information and assistance to make this transition as smooth as possible.

You can find all the information in the The Rapid's new service plan here.
