Bus Service Expanding in Grand Rapids

As of February 28th you will no longer be able to use the paper tickets to pay to ride The Rapid. Instead the option to pay is either cash or a electronic fare system called the Wave card.

The Rapid says they'll adjust again if necessary.

Among the changes, riders paying with cash will no longer receive free transfers and those without exact change will not receive change cards.

In line with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's latest executive order on mask-wearing to slow the spread of COVID-19, The Rapid will require riders to wear face coverings on all public transportation services starting Monday.

The buses will still be limited to 15 people on at once.
