Hey Florida, your weather is still here. Please come and get it!

So, to stay cool at home, this conversation began in my house. What should we set the thermostat temp to?

Andy: It's hot and I want it cool, so how about 70?

Susie: Maybe 75. We'll just close the drapes or blinds and we'll be fine.

Andy: I'm sweating already. Let's meet in the middle.

Susie: Okay, 74!

Isn't that how it goes!

However, neither of us were correct on the proper temperature to set your thermostat to.

Experts say.....78 degrees! You want some energy savings, but need comfort and safety, but 78? Now I'm roasting!

According to an article on USAToday.com:

"The best temperature to set your air conditioning is 78 degrees Fahrenheit when you wake up, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program. Energy companies in FloridaMaryland and Missouri also recommend thermostats at 78 degrees during summer months."

Oh my heatwave!

Seriously folks, I think I would have to keep running outside to feel the heat and then run back inside to feel the sort of cool and that is not happening.

Actually, 78 degrees is probably not happening either. USAToday.com said the Detroit Free Press took a survey and found that 72 was the favorite among readers.

Stay as cool as you can and safe, regardless where you set your thermostat.
