Michigan Beware! Target is Ending A Perk We All Love
Well this is a fine how do you do! Target has decided to end a beloved perk that shoppers have enjoyed for the past 12 years.
Next Monday, July 28, Target's "Price Match Guarantee" will go away.
USA Today says Target's current price-match policy says:
"We’ll match the price if you buy a qualifying item at Target and then find the identical item for less at Target.com, Amazon, Walmart or with a Target Circle™ deal (deals that apply automatically upon identifying yourself as a Target Circle member). Price matches may be requested at time of purchase or within 14 days after purchase."
However, after this coming Monday they will not match the Amazon and Walmart items.
It is a bit difficult to explain, but the new policy, according to Target executives, will pull them more in line with other retailers. Amazon and Walmart haven't price matched for quite awhile.

It seems that the major retailers actually cannilbalize, or "price match" themselves. In other words the brick and mortar stores compete with their online websites. So, if you do find a lower price of whatever you bought in the store online, you can go back to the store and get that item for that price.
Target folks are saying that is pretty much what shoppers have been doing for the past few years, so they are not changing too much they say.
WHAT RETAILERS DO PRICE MATCH?
YES, some big retailers still price match.
Meijer does not price match, however Best Buy, Lowe's, Home Depot, Kohl's, and many more, do price match. There are some specific rules and regulations for each retailer, so be sure to check out their programs.
