We saw some wild weather in West Michigan last weekend (and this week) with super high winds. A drone captured footage of huge waves on Lake Michigan crashing over the South Pier in South Haven on Saturday, Dec. 11.

To be considered a true Michigander, one must almost know the words to the song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". Have The Gales of November come early in 2021?

Saturday night several people were swept off the south pier at Grand Haven State Park. Sunday, strong waves created dangerous currents leaving one person presumed drowned.

Something called a "mid-latitude cyclone" swept through Michigan over the weekend. Up to ten foot waves were recorded along West Michigan's Lakeshore. Here's video of the big waves on the big lake Sunday afternoon.

Today's storms will also bring flooding and beach erosion. Piers will be very dangerous.

The waves are expected to peak on Tuesday night.

Stormy weather is bringing dangerous swimming conditions and big waves to Lake Michigan through Friday night. West Michigan is expected to see the most dangerous conditions.

A major storm this week is expected to bring 20-foot waves to Lake Michigan. Those waves will bring thousands to the shoreline of Lake Michigan, but you can stay warm and watch the action from wherever you'd like to.
