Dangerous, 10-Foot Waves Expected on Lake Michigan This Week
Dangerous waves and currents on Lake Michigan are expected throughout West Michigan this week with the most dangerous conditions coming Tuesday night.
The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids issued the warning today. They say the swim risk will be high on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The north sides of piers will be among the most dangerous spots. The poor conditions will affect all of West Michigan and beyond as the warning covers beaches from St. Joseph to Manistee.
The poor conditions will begin Tuesday around noon and last through Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. Wave heights are expected to peak Tuesday afternoon to Tuesday evening and reach 6 - 10 feet.
The big waves are sure to draw big crowds to Lake Michigan, just remember to watch from a safe distance.
