This week is a good news gas week as prices in the state saw their first drop in a few weeks, according to AAA Michigan.

AAA says around Michigan the average price for a gallon of gas is $3.62, 9 cents lower than last week. However, around here, West Michigan, you can find even lower prices.

As of last weekend, some gas stations in West Michigan have prices at under $3 a gallon for unleaded gasoline.

Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy says gas could fall to $2.99 in the greater Grand Rapids area soon.

Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy, says he thinks YES, the Great Lakes region will see gas prices begin to fall below $5 per gallon.

Gas prices jumped up 30 cents a gallon last week here in Michigan -- the highest increase in the United States. The prices continue to climb.

There just may be a better day of the week to gas up to save a little money.

"It could propel prices upward of $4.25 per gallon by Memorial Day."

As of Saturday morning, it looks like gas prices have gone over the $4 mark here in West Michigan.

AAA says the state average is now at $3.74 a gallon, a nearly 40 cent jump from where we were last week. In Grand Rapids it's more!

Gas prices spiked in Michigan making it the highest cost for gasoline since October 2014. The price is 22 cents higher than it was a week ago.
