Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has confirmed the first influenza-associated pediatric death in Michigan for the 2022-2023 flu season, and that's a hard pill to swallow, so to speak.

With flu season approaching, a Grand Rapids Health Center is holding a drive-thru flu vaccine clinic in a few weeks.

Michigan's first major flu outbreak has the MDHHS reminding us to get our flu shots this year.

This is one of the first for the Midwest.

The Flu is big-time stuff in Grand Rapids

The flu may hit us hard this year.

On Thursday, health officials announced that flu shots are only 23 percent effective against this season's strain. This is not a good sign in a season where it seems more and more people are being stricken down with the flu.

Flu season is especially rampant this year in West Michigan.  With more and more people falling ill at work, school, and at home, now is the perfect time to get immunized against the flu virus.

Last week, Holland Hospital announced that they will require all employees, students, and volunteers to get flu shots beginning this fall. Most other West Michigan hospitals already have a similar policy. Is it OK for an employer to require a flu shot?  Who should be required to get one?

We have good news and bad news about the flu season so far. The flu is hitting earlier than average, but this year's vaccine is proving to be very effective.

The changing seasons and approaching holidays bring a lot of anticipation. Food!  Fun!  Family!  Flu shots?! Are you going to get a flu shot this year?
