Michigan Will See More Above Average Temperatures Than Anywhere Else in America in June 2024
The summer of 2024 promises to be another scorcher. Already heatboxes like Florida and Arizona are turning up triple digit highs. Michigan will feel the heat though much of June.
While the state, particularly the lower third of the Mitten, may not see the mercury top 100, the weather story is in temperatures 'most above average.'
The Climate Prediction Center, a branch of the National Weather Service, has released a national temperature outlook for mid to late June and Lower Michigan - say from roughly M-46 south - and the lower Great Lakes region of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio will have the best opportunity to see above average temperatures.
Compare this region of Michigan to, say, the desert southwest. While a place like Arizona may see the higher temps, they are in the 'near normal' when it comes to how far the temperatures are from average.

It's lower Michigan and the rest of the southern Great Lakes region that will feel so much hotter than what we're accustomed to for the start of summer.
WWMT Chief Meteorologist Keith Thompson puts it succinctly,
very high confidence that our part of the country will have above average temperatures next week, with highs likely in the 90s and Heat Index readings in the middle to upper 90s.
