Location is probably important. The setting has to be just right, or maybe not. Some chosen locations can be very strange.

There was a proposal at Whole Foods one time. Another at Home Depot, how about proposing while sky diving? And yet another on a Rollercoaster.

But here in Michigan, this one takes the cake. He proposed in a blizzard!

Not that it was supposed to be in a blizzard, but Joe Hernandez, originally from South Haven, planned to fulfill his dream of proposing to the love of his life on the beach in South Haven. Well, he was finally able to do that over this Thanksgiving holiday weekend. One problem, we had the big snow storm and blizzard conditions. Oops!

Joe, and now his fiance, are now living in Texas, and Joe hadn't been able to return to South Haven for several years, and hadn't lived in South Haven for 20 years, so this was a big deal.

Thinking of a beach engagement is a very romantic idea, but you're not counting on snow, especially a blizzard.

Not to be deterred, Joe was set on the proposal, so out Joe and his lovely lady went to the South Haven beach. He bent down on one knee and popped the question as the wind, waves and snow swirled around them.

She, frozenly, said YES!

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
