St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Kentwood was destroyed by fire in 2012.  Fireworks are suspected to have been the cause of the fire.

Hundreds gathered this week as rebuilding began.

Immediately after the fire last summer, church officials announced they would rebuild.

Construction officially began on May 29, with a ground breaking ceremony.  Construction is expected to be completed by Easter 2014.
