Rocky Picture Horror Show is This Weeks Movie at the Movies in the Park Series

This Friday, July 25, Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI) and Friends of Grand Rapids Parks welcome “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” as the fourth film of the Movies in the Park series. The movie will be shown at Ah-Nab-Awen Park using a 3-story screen. Friday night will be the fourth of a six-night summer film series that highlights a film from each decade from the 1930’s through the 1990’s. “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is a cult hit that has continued for more than a decade after its original release at midnight movie screenings all over the country.

They tried to show the movie last year but bad weather washed it out. This Friday, the weather looks much better.

Pre-movie entertainment begins at 7 p.m., and the film will start at dusk. Gilda’s LaughFest will be the evening’s Community Partner and will host a costume contest and dancing lessons to learn “The Time Warp”. Everyone will also have an opportunity to win a $100 gift card to Founders Brewing Co. Friday evening will be the last night that attendees can vote for their favorite of the Voters’ Choice selections to air on August 22.

Of course, bring chairs or blankets along with food, wine, and beer to the park. A variety of local vendors will have additional food available for purchase. Vendors will include GoNuts, What the Truck, Daddy Pete’s BBQ, Vito’s Pizza, Dorothy and Tony’s Gourmet Kettle Corn, Ferris Coffee, and Love’s Ice Cream. Visit downtowngr.org for more information.
