For many it is a difficult decision to retire. You're worried you may not have enough money to take care of yourself.
Not for all, of course because there are those who can't wait to retire and leave "the grind" behind.
For others it's not easy. You would be walking away from the working world you love, work family, connections, that paycheck, and many more reasons.
However, at some time on one's life it is time to relax, walk away and live stress free, hopefully.
So, if retirement is approaching and you don't really want to leave Michigan because we are so blessed with the Great Lakes and their beautiful shorelines, hundreds of inland lakes, woods, vibrant cities, and little tucked away places to nest, what do you do?

Saugatuck and Petoskey
They think these are two top spots to retire that are quaint towns that offer many outdoor activities. They're not cheap, but offer so much.
Kalamazoo
Grand Haven
Grand Haven has a lot going for it they say, with a low cost of living, low crime rate, excellent health care all of which make this a spot to consider.
Ann Arbor
Ann Arbor has always been considered a top town to retire, not only in Michigan but the country. University of Michigan, excellent health care, affordability, world class culture and more make Ann Arbor a top spot to consider, as well.
Frankenmuth
Frankenmuth? Okay, chicken dinners come to mind right away. But seriously, there is much more to Frankenmuth than meets the stomach. It's a peaceful place, full of lots of charm, history and so much more that makes it a top spot in Michigan to consider.
Grand Rapids
Being the largest city on their list of best places to retire in Michigan, the retirement experts think that for those wanting the bustle of a big city with world class health care, lots of culture, entertainment, fine restaurants and clubs, top entertainment, and some major attractions, Grand Rapids would be a top spot to consider.
Yes, you do have to consider the four-seasons we have in Michigan. But if that is not an issue, then you are probably already in your top state to retire!
