The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says reports of flu-like symptoms across Michigan continue to remain low and steady, but current rates are slightly higher than at this same point one year ago.

In the 2009-10 pandemic flu season, levels of flu-like symptoms were peaking around this time of the year and just before.

In many other years the flu peaks around early January, as seen below.

More than 123 million doses of flu vaccine have been distributed nationally so far this season.

The slow start to flu season is good, but it is not an indication of what may come.
