Ford is recalling several thousand 2013 Escape SUV's because of a potential problem that affects braking ability.

The vehicles were made between March 8th and June 7th of this year.

Apparently "mispositioned" carpet has the potential to reduce brake pedal clearance and increase your stopping distance as a result.

If you own one of these Ford vehicles, contact your dealer; as part of the recall, they will remove the carpet padding and replace troublesome trim for free.

Ford will notify owners but you can also customers may also contact the NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
