McDonald’s Says It’s Time for This To Go Away!
This has been a familiar and popular sight in McDonald's restaurants throughout Michigan for quite some time, but it will be going away.
WHAT ARE WE LOSING?
Over the course of time the self-serve soda fountains will disappear from all McDonald's restaurants across, not only Michigan, but the United States according to an article on the Cleveland.com/news website.
The self-serve soda fountains won't go away all at once but a little at a time and by 2032 we won't be able to pour our own drinks in dining rooms anymore.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN THEY ARE GONE?
Easy! We will get all of our drinks at the counter just as it used to be.
Looking back, I'm amazed how long it has been that McDonald's has had the self-serve soda fountains. It was the late 20th Century when they installed the them. You would order food at the counter then be handed an empty cup and walk over the the soda station and fill it up with soda. Excuse me, it's pop in Michigan.

The website, Cleveland.com/news, reported that McDonald's says: "the decision is meant to create a more consistent experience for customers. The company wants drinks prepared the same way regardless of how customers order—whether at the counter, drive-thru, kiosk and mobile app."
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WERE INSIDE A McDONALD'S?
I don't know about you but I can't remember the last time I was inside a McDonald's to get food. You drive through, right? Or maybe use the mobile app, or even have it Grub Hub delivered. But, you probably haven't actually been inside and used the self-serve soda fountain for a long time. Case in point!
Time to adjust to what our lifestyles have become!
