👇 BELOW: THESE CHILDREN ARE STILL MISSING IN MICHIGAN 👇

It was supposed to go into effect this past June 30th, but has been delayed until next December.

ABC News reports:

"Starting Dec. 5, 2026, all car seats sold in the U.S. must meet new federal safety standards aimed at improving protection during side-impact collisions.

The regulation, issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is a major move toward reducing child fatalities and injuries in what experts consider one of the most dangerous types of crashes."

The kind of accident talked about here is better known at a T-bone crash. Yes, forward crashes are more common, but the T-bone has shown to be almost as fatal at head on collisions.

DO YOU HAVE TO BUY A NEW CAR SEAT?

The good news for parents is that if you already own a car seat or two, "you don't have to rush out a replace it as long as it is still in order, has not expired, is installed correctly, and has not been recalled," the ABC News article says.

Hopefully, you are using car seats for your children and following the law in Michigan.

As a review, our advertiser, Michigan Auto Law reminds everyone in Michigan:

  1. Children until 2 years of age must ride in a rear-facing car seat
  2. Children under 5 must ride in a forward-facing seat
  3. Children under 8 must ride in a booster seat
  4. All children under 12 years of age must ride in the rear seat.

Let's keep our kids safe!
