A Michigan woman is recovering after an unusual accident in Indiana Saturday (12/8) night. State police say the woman was pinned by her own vehicle as she entered a toll booth on westbound I-90 in Hammond.

State police say they believe the woman may have been hanging out of her window or car door, possibly to retrieve something she had dropped on the pavement. Officers attempted to revive her by using an AED and were able to free her by moving her vehicle.

The woman was in admitted to a nearby hospital in Hammond, Indiana in critical condition and was later airlifted to Christ Medical Center near Chicago.

The woman's identity is unknown at this time. She is possibly in her 40s and believed to be from Michigan. She was the only person in the car at the time of the incident.
